FORTESCUE, George Knottesford (1847-1912)
British Museum 1870-1912 (Superintendent of the Reading Room 1884, Keeper of Printed Books 1899)
He remains best known for his catalogues of the Croker (French Revolution) and Thomason (Civil War and Commonwealth) tracts and also for the BM Subject Indexes 1880-1910. He was LA President in 1901.
